Capernaum Set

There is a very universal saying that we are all likely familiar with, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do” which came to mind today as I begin to think of things to do in Dallas during our conference this November. However, “When in Dallas...” does not have quite the same ring to it does it? Having only spent about 36 hours total in the city of Dallas so far, I am probably not the most reliable travel agent when it comes to tourist activities. Thank goodness many of our Aglow women and men live in (or are from) Texas and know all the tips! And if they don’t, they probably all know someone who lives in Texas that does!

Last week I received a call in the conference office from a wonderful Aglow woman asking about our upcoming conference and as we got to chatting she mentioned that the TV series “The Chosen” was (and is) filmed in the Dallas area! How wonderful! If you are not familiar with the TV series, “The Chosen” is a television series depicting the life journey of Jesus of Nazareth and has captivated audiences since its debut in 2019.

In fact, Capernaum Studios, a faith-based film studio, is located in Fort Worth, Texas, and is the studio location where seasons 1 and 2 of “The Chosen” were filmed. This studio was chosen because of its history as an ideal location for productions set in the first century. Capernaum Studios offers individual tours, with an appointment and for $15 per person you can spend 45 minutes exploring the sets where The Chosen and other films have come to life.

I spoke with a representative from Capernaum Studios who shared with me that while the studios do not have any official “Ultimate Backlot Tours” planned for November 2024 at this time, the studios always offer Independent Tours which consist of a walkthrough of our Majestic Statue Garden and 1st-century village. There is not a limit on the number of guests that can tour together and there is plenty of space for parking. We do suggest you may want to dine in the Weatherford area which is about 20 minutes south of Poolville.

So, if you are planning to come to Dallas early or will be staying in the area after conference and have suitable transportation you could “travel back in time” to the 1st century and make a day of it! Directions from the Hyatt Regency Dallas to Poolville estimate a travel time of 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Season 5 will begin filming in Utah for the first 6 weeks and then will finish production at the home base of “The Chosen” at Camp Hoblitzelle in Midlothian Texas. I do not believe this set location offers tours, however, as we wait for our conference days to approach you may find me sitting in my office daydreaming of being an extra in the new season!

After the conference we should be able to visit some historical places before going back home just to appreciate the beauty of America.

      Bonjour
Effectivement, ce serait intéressant pour ceux qui viendront à la conférence de faire de telle découvertes afin de bénéficier des informations et aussi un savoir de plus . C’est à dire avoir une réelle connaissance de certains lieux historiques.

      Merci beaucoup
